Weather and Seasonal Forecasting
The Weather and Seasonal Forecasting Flagship aims to unite climate and weather science and operations to power a world‑class impact based multi-hazard early warning system that protects communities, builds resilience, and enables economic wellbeing for New Zealand and the wider Pacific region.
We will strengthen New Zealand’s weather and seasonal forecasting capability by advancing impact-based forecasting, decision support, and early-warning systems; building an integrated climate and weather science pipeline that uses technology and automation; improving delivery of meteorological and climatological products; and expanding key partnerships and engagement with end users.
