Volcano Hazards
The Volcano Hazards Flagship is working to improve New Zealand’s resilience to future volcanic eruptions through cutting-edge, multi-disciplinary, and mission-led research.
Volcanoes are iconic features in New Zealand’s landscapes. Several of these volcanoes are active or have the potential to become active in the future. They pose very real threats to lives, livelihoods, infrastructure and the landscape. To ensure enhanced resilience for communities, we ensure there is a strong connection between volcano activity monitoring and research. We work closely with our partners, stakeholders and communities.
